GUCE as GUCE LEEROY - THE LAST DRAGON

GUCE as GUCE LEEROY
THE LAST DRAGON (I GOT THEM KICKS)
2012

Finally, another release from Guce! Cot'Damn!
Been waiting on this one for quite some time
and the wait was worth the while. This album is straight crack!
Only bumped a few times, but I haven't really heard anything
bad at all. And the production is on point, no filler joints.
So far i'm lovin 'All I Got", that's one dope ass track.
"Turnt Up" & "Wake They Game Up" is hella tight too.
But i gotta bump some more, though I'm pretty set on it so far.

1. Who Am I (Intro)
Great intro and does exactly what it should.
2. Born 2 Win
Gucey Guce Dough Boy hooks you in straight off the bat!
With great production behind him, his verses deliver. 4.5/5
3. I'm Ready (Interlude)
4. Wake They Game Up
What a dope beat and Guce on top make this a golden track
and one of my favourites of the album. 5/5
5. I'll Never Change
I seriously think people underestimate Guce. Just listen to
this joint and pay attention to his flow and delivery. This is
classic material right here. Everything from the hook,
the super production and Guce's verses is just top notch! 5/5
6. I'm Not A Role Model
And it continues. Another perfect track. This one is even
better than the previous one. I love Guce's style on here
and again he's backed by tight production and a perfect
chorus. You gotta love it, you just gotta love it! 5/5
7. Anne Mae
Switching things up with this Anna Mae joint. The beat has
definite southern influences, but as always Guce knocks this
out the park aswell. Sick track. 5/5
8. No Clothes
Gettin stupid still does it for Guce too. I like how this track
keeps things mellow and on the downlow. Pretty fly. 4/5
9. Turnt Up
Man this one is a slumper. For sure this will be a hit in the
club. Great hook and when Guce comes knockin with that
first verse all you want to do it put your thizz face on. Add
E-40 and Beeda Weeda (another cat that's way underrated)
and you you've got some classic bay are slap happenin. 5/5
10. Back To Love
And just like that, things slow down with this mellow joint
featuring one of my favourite crooners, Jaheim. Truly
awesome to see this collabo come together. Dope. 5/5
11. Step Out
Yeeeeeeeah. Guce has one of the dopest signature chants
next to David Banner and Pastor Troy. When he starts a
song with it, you know it's all good. Tight track. 4/5
12. Ice Tea
The hook cracks me up. The beat isn't on par with the rest
but really it's not bad at all. The verses stand out. 4/5
13. Smoking
Great vibe throughout the track. Despite the autotune use in
the hook, it's pretty fly. Nice little track. 4.5/5
14. IZM
Ol skool sound that keeps it interesting but it's one of the
lesser cuts on the alb. Still you would't skip this. 4/5
15. Tonight
Not sure you can tackle an R. Kelly sampled joint and
get away with it, but this one works somehow. Not bad. 4/5
16. I'm Me
Nice track but it wears a little thin compared to the first half
of the album, but overall it's a dope track. 4.5/5
17. All I Got
Sick beat for real. Love the drums. Soulful and engaging.
Guce is perfect on it and the whole track stands out. 5/5
18. Who I am (Outro)
Nice way to end the album.
Here's the official vid for All I Got...

Having the rap game cluttered with idiotic talentless faggots
like Tyler The Creator & Odd Future, Asap Rocky, Schoolboy Q,
Lil B, Drake, Big Sean, etc... it is so refreshing to have dudes
like Guce still release solid albums like this that remind you that
real rap & hip-hop is still very much alive.
Guce always comes correct (except for his mixtape joints,
no excuse for them fake Lil Wayne featured joints)
and this release might just be his best all-round complete project to
date. It's got it all from slow joints to classic spittin joints, to club
tracks that aren't dumbed down. And overall it flows smoothly.
Impressed and pleasantly surprised, not that I didn't expect it
from Gucey Guce a.k.a. Guce Leeroy!

TOO SHORT - NO TRESPASSING

TOO SHORT
NO TRESPASSING
2012

Short dog is back y'all! With what, his 19th album?
Crazy! Gotta love this dude's consistency.
A lot of these tracks are exactly what i
wanted and expected from Too Sheezy.

1. What The Fuck
Starting the alb with a bang! The beat isn't all that really
but the guitars make it rough as and Short Dog sure
makes the most of it. The hook is so simple but the way
Short delivers it after his verses is golden. Dope! 4.5/5
2. Get Her Like
Dope beat and Short does his thing. The usual content but only
Short can get away with it for 19 albums.
The second part of the hook is kinda soft for me, but overall
it's a sick track. 4.5/5
3. Playa For Life
Typical track with a pretty cliche vibe but the verses
make this stand out a lil more. Not sure about the hook,
it's kind of too RnB-ish for me, but it'll do. 3.5/5
4. Trying To Come Up
NIce track overall, nothing that wows, but it's pretty sweet
and i'm likin the hook. Nice verses. 4.5/5
5. Cush Cologne
Bumpin. Nothing more to say really. Beat is cool
and both verses and the hook are on point. Nice. 4.5/5
6. The Magazine
Now we're talking. Too Short spittin some dope verses
over a really chill yet uptempo beat with a catchy hook
to go along with it. The ending is real tight. 5/5
7. I Got Caught
Very relax joint but that hook is sweet as. Different for
Too Short, but he makes it work. 4.5/5
8. Im A Stop
Favourite track of the album. The beat is just fly and adding
Devin The Dude on the hook and having 50 Cent
& an awesome Twista feature make this even better.
Too Short & 50? Who knew...dope! 5/5
9. Hog Ridin
More dirty south soundin and initially i wasn't on board
with this hog ride but it grows on ya so much. And Richie Rich
is a slapper! Best feature of the alb next to Twista. 4.5/5
10. Porno Bitch
Seems recycled like i heard it before, but nonetheless
it's a dope song. Short's verses are what's up.
"i need a porno star, i got a big ass dick, i was born hard"...
classic shit right there! 4.5/5
11. Shut Up Nancy
Kokane is perfect on here. At first i wasn't feeling it but again
Short's lyrics make this a must. Dope hook on top. 4.5/5
12. Boss
Nice track for real. Wish it featured maybe someone else,
but Silk-E been in the game forever,
it is nice to see them together again. 4.5/5
13. Hey
Not bad, but i'm not totally sold on this one.
Loose Silk-E on this one have a rougher vibe overall
and it would've been better maybe. Still allright. 3.5/5
14. Money On The Floor
Kind of disappointed with this one perhaps. A Too Short & E-40
collab should be top notch. Still a cool song but nothing
that will make this a keeper months from now.
Hopefully their collabo album will be better. 4/5
15. Double Header
This is like a leftover track from when E-40 first started
doing hyphy shit. It's not bad but kinda played out. 3.5/5
16. Respect The Pimpin
It's pimpin pimpin! Laid back like a muthafucka.
Snoop & Short make the most together. Nice joint for real. 4.5/5
17. Da Boom Cha
Seriously this is annoying. Not feeling this at all.
What a shit way to end the album. Should've been left off
and let the alb finish with the Snoop collabo instead. 0/5

19 albums and so many of them classics so it's kind of hard
to not compare this latest release to any of them.
But luckily Too Short has the ability to make any album
stand on it's own, whether it's Lil Jon on the boards or Jazzy Pha,
or Short Dogg himself. Whether it's all pimpin, dirty south clubbin or
gettin hyphy retarded, one thing's clear: Too Short makes it all his own.
If i must compare this album to his previous albums,
it's falls short. Married To The Game, Album Number Ten,
Can't Stay Away, What's My Favourite Word, Blow The Whistle, etc...
they were all better overall.
Still, i have to say i thoroughly enjoy this album because
it is Too Short and he hasn't lost his touch one bit.
Bumpin this in the whip or at the gym or chillin at home,
it's all damn fuckin gravy...BITCH!

CURREN$Y - MUSCLE CAR CHRONICLES

CURREN$Y
MUSCLE CAR CHRONICLES
2012

Already his 7th studio album...dude is a beast.
However short this album is (always a negative for me),
it is another fine ass notch in Spitta's belt...
Not going to review the bonus disc with
Sean Connolly's folk acoustic music, although for those
who enjoy, it is a pretty fly addition.
I'm more focused on the main ingredient here:
Curren$y spittin over live drums and beats you wouldn't
expect, although we are talking about Spitta.
I love that dude is not a sellout and does what he wants to do.
And he does it superb. The beats on here are grand.
It could've easily been the next project from The Roots.
Every track stands out for me. Though top props
for the Fly Out songs, Frosty, The Strangest Life
& Bout It 2011, which is a nice lil ode to where
Spitta came from, and one of my favourite era's in rap:
No Limit Records. This is a nice twist on Master P's classic.
I love it. But really, the other tracks, NO Shit,
Razors and Chopsticks, Not So Much & Soundbombin
are all dope as fuck aswell. But it is still short as fuck!
If it had a couple more tracks and couple more verses
on some of the cuts here, this would be a flawless album.
However it is that good that I will overlook this in my rating.
In anyway, Spitta delivered and you gotta love his hustle.
Overall Score: 9.2/10

FEVA - PAY DA FEE

FEVA
PAY DA FEE
2012

Holy shit, this album is SICK!
And 39 tracks long? I'm lovin it!
Best thing about the whole album is how smooth
the entire vibe is...the production is top notch and
i love Feva's voice and flow and all featured artists
bring that little something extra to the tracks.
If you don't know you better get acquainted, fast!
Won't do a track by track review i think but just
know how great this debut album from Feva really is.
There's a great variety of tracks that keep you
hooked for the entire ride. Plus having all 5 of the
Mob Figaz on your album? That says enough.
Not to mention the rest of the features. Dude's got
the cream of the cream of Bay Area Rap on here.
I've got about two dozen 5/5 tracks on here.
So again, sick album and quite the surprise!
