JUVENILE - REJUVENATION

JUVENILE
REJUVENATION
2012

It's good to know some things don't change.
Clap that azz if you will...
1. Rejuvenation
Nothing special here. Beat is kinda annoying. 2.5/5
2. Power (ft. Rick Ross)
Now here we go, this is some sick shit.
Crazy beat with Juvenile sounding great!
Ross ain't bad either (he's always been better
as a feature). Great start. 5/5
3. Can't Stop My Money
Nothing feeling the hook too much but
the verses are great over a sub-par beat. 4/5
4. Mardi Gras
Awesome beat with Juve going off!
Meek mill knock off or not. 5/5
5. Lost My Mind
Silly hook but i kind love it. Dope track! 5/5
6. Imma Get Rich
These type of N.O. party tracks never get old.
Drumma Boy really 'catered' here. 5/5
7. Fall Back (ft. Z-Ro & Trae)
Great guests! So kind of a shame the beat
and whole track is lackluster. 3/5
8. Bad Guy
Very different track, but i'm feeling it.
Juve's verses are what sell this one. 3.5/5
9. Ahh Haa
That synth kills it. But then the beat drops and
it's not all bad. So so track i do bump to. 3.5/5
10. I'm Yo People (ft. Young Juve & Skip)
It's good to see UTP is still in play, but these
tracks are not doing it. 3/5
11. Got It Like That (ft. Skip & Wacko)
A little better than the previous track
but still nothing to write home to. 3.5/5
12. Still Here (ft Skip & Wacko)
Again with the shitty synths. Not sure who's
responsible, but Mannie Fresh is sorely missed.
But! The R&B hook is hella nice and this is the
best one out of the UTP joints. 4.5/5
13. Ain't What You Want
I'm going to pretend Juve didn't stoop to this. 0/5
14. Toast To The Good Life
Juve is great with the verses but the backdrop
and lesser RnB hook bring it down a little at first.
But keep listening and it sucks you in somehow. 4/5

I mean this is nothing like the good 'ol Hot Boys days
when 400 Degreez and even Project English were dropped.
Still there's a hint of Juve The Great here and there.
Just wish next time around the production would back
up Juve a little bit more, and all the way. And maybe
bring back Mannie and some more N.O. features.
(not talking about Lil Wayne though)
Overall Score: 8/10
(for clarification, my 8/10 would be considered a 5-6/10
for most other reviewers)

FIEND - IRON CHEF

FIEND
IRON CHEF
2012

I don't really care for Cookin Soul per se, but they delivered
some dope production for this latest (oh no not another one)-mixtape
from the allmighty one and only Fiend, Mr. International Jones.
The entire joint is pure gold with Fiend & Homies going
off on every track with the greatest of ease and smooth.
Very impressive is the track with Curren$y, "Champagne".
That track is just killer. Flawless hook and sound.
"Nobody Rides" with Daz & Kurupt is such a dope fuckin collabo!!
Awesome to see this happen..."Streetplayer" is another fire cut.
Basically nothing wrong here at all except it's fuckin short,
c'mon y'all...please don't be stingy with adding more
pepper & salt to the pot...oh well...
For whatever it is, like with Fiend's previous tape,
it's nothing but that goody good shit! Whomp whomp!!
Overall Score: 9.2/10

CURREN$Y - MUSCLE CAR CHRONICLES

CURREN$Y
MUSCLE CAR CHRONICLES
2012

Already his 7th studio album...dude is a beast.
However short this album is (always a negative for me),
it is another fine ass notch in Spitta's belt...
Not going to review the bonus disc with
Sean Connolly's folk acoustic music, although for those
who enjoy, it is a pretty fly addition.
I'm more focused on the main ingredient here:
Curren$y spittin over live drums and beats you wouldn't
expect, although we are talking about Spitta.
I love that dude is not a sellout and does what he wants to do.
And he does it superb. The beats on here are grand.
It could've easily been the next project from The Roots.
Every track stands out for me. Though top props
for the Fly Out songs, Frosty, The Strangest Life
& Bout It 2011, which is a nice lil ode to where
Spitta came from, and one of my favourite era's in rap:
No Limit Records. This is a nice twist on Master P's classic.
I love it. But really, the other tracks, NO Shit,
Razors and Chopsticks, Not So Much & Soundbombin
are all dope as fuck aswell. But it is still short as fuck!
If it had a couple more tracks and couple more verses
on some of the cuts here, this would be a flawless album.
However it is that good that I will overlook this in my rating.
In anyway, Spitta delivered and you gotta love his hustle.
Overall Score: 9.2/10

FIEND - COOL IS IN SESSION

FIEND
COOL IS IN SESSION
2011

Even though it's another mixtape (4th this year alone, grrr,
i fuckin hate mixtapes), I am going to review this one.

Being my favourite rapper of all, I always look
forward for whatever new ish mr. whomp whomp is
coming out with. Untill 2006 that was. It annoys me that all his
focus the last couple years was on putting out mixtapes instead
of bringing us a follow-up to the awesome 2006 (!)
album "The Addiction". Now going by
Fiend "International Jones", he's released 4 tapes
already this year alone. All good and all, but I don't
want to hear Fiend spit over known beats and not
actually have a hard copy release so I can purchase it.
None of his mixtapes did anything to me to be honest.
Not The Bail Out, Fiend 4 The Money, Tennis Shoes...
The Sweetest Hangover, Smokin' Champagne,
Life Behind Limo Glass...none of 'em...until now.

Cool Is in Session is much the same as the other 3
tapes this year, but this time is sounds more perfected
and more like an actual album (which pisses me it's not).
Basically, this album is a sweet and smooth ass ride with some
jazzy lounge beats that compliment Fiend's vocals and raps.

1. The Amazing Race
This is straight up gumbo music and though i like
the track it thankfully doesn't set the mood for the
rest of the album. Fiend is on fire though. 3.5/5
2. Take A Pull
And now we have lift off ladies and gentlemen.
What an awesome track! I love it when fiend sings
the hook on tracks like this. He is some' else.
Great verses and nice feature aswell. 5/5
3. Masterpiece
Took me a couple listens to get into this.
Still find the very start somewhat akward, but when
Fiend starts spittin the first verse and you start to
appreciate the music behind it all, this is classic,
however short it may be (as is the whole album). 4/5
4. UK Check In (interlude)
He did this on a previous tape. Pointless.
5. Ghost Town
Talk about something unique here. Props
to Fiend for rapping over this beat and making it
a fly track. Love the ending. 4.5/5
6. All Summer Long
Another dope sample and ill beat. The whole groove
is so smooth and Fiend is perfect. 5/5
7. We Get High
Loungy beat with some nice musical vibes.
Fiend again brings it and the hook is
sweet like saccharine. Wish both verses were
Fiend's though, but it's all good. 5/5
8. Free Your Mind.
The one track that didn't do it for me that much
in the beginning, but it has grown on me big time.
The ending is killer. And even Fiend just talking
is wasup! I kid you not...4/5
9. Hondura Sand
Not bad this one, but doesn't move me
as much as the other tracks. And what's with just
one verse for a 3 minute track? Though i must
say this instrumental is pretty smooth sick 4/5
10. Great Morning 2 Ya
Very similar to the previous track. 4/5
11. Wish I Could Fly
This is the track that made me do the review!
If the whole album was like this it would be
masterpiece!! This is why i love Fiend so much. 5/5
12. Under The Cajun Moon
Quite amazing again, to flow over this type of beat and
make it all seem so easy. Damn, this is sick. 5/5

Overall, this is short as and i still hate the fact it's
a mixtape but i had to give props where due.
(Granted, it doesn't sound like a tape at all,
which is why i'm reviewing aswell)
By no means is this album of the year type
material, but it does hint at it with the concepts,
musical vibes and that one track "Wish I Could Fly".
And it's Fiend yo! However subjective this review is
(and really, all my reviews are mostly), everyone
should give this one a solid try and discover it.
It still is growing on me and one thing's for sure,
when you listen to this album, life is damn amazing!

CURREN$Y presents JET LIFE - JET WORLD ORDER

CURREN$Y presents JET LIFE
JET WORLD ORDER
2011

Curren$y has got himself a nice gang going on here
and this album just flows so smoothly with
some really tight tracks where all artists just
compliment each other. Very solid release!
1. Excellent
Curren$y, Trademark Da Skydiver and Young Roddy
deliver some great lines over a truly awesome beat!
It's quite a sound they've got themselves here, and it's
all over the album. This track sets it all off. 5/5
2. The Business
Another great beat with Trade & Roddy killing it. 4/5
3. Paper Habits
This is one of my fav cuts of the alb. The music and beat
just cut straight through you and hits ya hard.
Roddy is a beast here. Dude is awesome. 5/5
4. Exhale
Not a fan of this beat at all and not even Spitta can
save this one for me...edit: it has grown. 3/5
5.  Lop-Sided
From Exhale to this is like a 180, this is another fav.
Love the drums and that piano loop is sick. 5/5
6. 1st Place
Nice lil sample over a smooth beat with tight kicks.
Roddy & Mickey take it away. 5/5
7. The Set
Not sure about the first verse, but when the hook
comes back this track is legit..and again Roddy
kills it. But DZA brings it down, not a good feature. 4.5/5
8. Nothing Less
Gotta love a rhodes-laced beat. This is on some
Tribe Called Quest type shit. I like it. 4.5/5
9. Picture Perfect
Having my favourite rapper Fiend on here i wish
the track itself was a lot stronger. But it's not. Fiend
does lift it for me, and it grows in time. 3.5/5
10. Blow Up
This doesn't really fit on here. It's an ok track and
Roddy kills it again, but it feels out of place. 3/5
11. Money Piles
Kind of annoying synths that sometimes kill the whole
track...the nice verses do however salvage it. 3/5
12. Pilots
A track that grows on you as it goes along. Once
again Young Roddy is that dude. 4.5/5
13. Outro
Basically redundant having the same beat as the
first track, they could've done a lot more knowing
the amount of mixtapes these dudes drop.

All in all a very tight release from Curren$y's camp.
Even though Spitta is on only three tracks,
Young Roddy totally stole the show... Not a total fan
of Trademark, but that's cuz he's outshined by the rest.
It's a short album, but when I bump this album, it's
a damn joy and having 7 amazing tracks spread out over
the album does boost the album. I'm impressed. Period.
Overall Score: 9/10

WEBBIE - SAVAGE LIFE 3

WEBBIE
SAVAGE LIFE 3
2011

If anything, it did not expect to be reviewing a Webbie album.
I like dude and his previous albs were solid but nothing
really out there. 'right now' started playing and I
just got hooked on listening to the whole album when
really i was just peepin out some joints
of the latest albums that just dropped.
(favouring Slim The Mobster and The Monsta Squad so far)
Seriously though, this album got me bumpin front to back
and Webbie brings that Louisiana heat with some
real tight production that's undeniable.
The first track 'baddest in here' starts off just like that.
The softer tracks like 'momma', 'shawty know' are
just as nice and give the alb a nice change-up.
Really this album really has a nice flow through-out.
Definitely my favourite Savage Life.
Standout tracks are 'right now', 'shawty know',
'baddest in here', 'keep ya head up',
'made nigga' & 'trilla than a bitch'.
On a side note, i thought not having Boosie on the alb
might've hurt this one a little, but nah...
Overall Score: 8.5/10

LIL WAYNE - THA CARTER IV

LIL WAYNE
THA CARTER IV
2011

First up, real fans of Lil Wayne since the beginning know what's up.
Though Carter 3 was a great album, everything went sour after that
and most will say after carter 2. Tha Block is Hot & Lights Out &
anything Hot Boys IS the real Lil Wayne and will always be.
Dude has become a gimmick and only appeals to the ignorant now.
Anyway, lemme break this down, to much chagrin.
1. Intro
Lemme state it here already, Wayne's voice has become
as annoying as Drake's (whom I blame for Wayne's demise)
With that said this track is kinda killa though. 4/5
2. Blunt Blowin
Easy to dismiss this one, but once the real beat comes
knocking through, this track is sick. Hate wayne's voice
and flow though, but i got passed that here. 4/5
3. MegaMan
Hard beat and a non-soft Wayne. It's a win. 4.5/5
4. 6 Foot 7 Foot (Feat. Cory Gunz)
As annoying as it is, Wayne does go off.
Cory Gunz on the other hand is one of the worst rappers
out right now and his verse starts off as fuck. What a joke.
Fuck him. Anyone else, even Drake and i'd rate higher. 3.5/5
5. Nightmares Of The Bottom
Fuck this shit fo real. worst flow=drake. Way to ruin a
nice lil beat with potential. Yep yep my ass Wayne. 2.5/5
6. She Will (Feat. Drake)
More drake copycattin...seriously, this is why wayne
is wayne no more. Guess this for the new ignorant
i mentioned before. 1/5
7. How To Hate (Feat. T-Pain)
I don't mind T-Pain, but this is straight bitch. Wayne is worse 0/5
8. Interlude (Feat. Tech N9ne)
This says it all, best track on the alb, but no Wayne in site.
And why is 3 Stacks uncredited?? Just lame. No rating
9. John (Feat. Rick Ross)
Sounds like it should've been on Mayback Music Group's alb.
Ross murders Wayne on his own track. Sad. 4/5
10. Abortion
I actualy had to stop listening to the track in order
to review it. That's how much it annoys. 1/5
11. So Special (Feat. John Legend)
What an ugly beat, this is what's wrong with hip-hop today.
You dissapoint John Legend. 0/5
12. How To Love
Nice try for real, but we're talking about
Lil Wayne singing like Drake. I wonder who's the bitch
in their relationship. 1/5
13. President Carter
Really the only track worthy of the carter legacy
(and perhaps Megaman). Too little too late. 4.5/5
14. Its Good (Feat. Drake & Jadakiss)
Jadakiss all the way, only reason to listen to this. 3.5/5
15. Outro (Feat. Bun B, Nas, Shyne & Busta Rhymes)
Again no Wayne, I'm not complaining, but c'mon,
on your own album? Not feeling nas too much.
All still murder any other wayne verse on the alb.
Pointless track and really not that good, by any measure. 3/5
16. I Like The View (Bonus)
At least make a bonus worhty. Ugly as fuck 1/5
17. Mirror (Feat. Bruno Mars) (Bonus)
Ridiculous, in a bad way. Only females will like this. 1/5
18. Two Shots (Bonus)
Perfect way to end this album, with mediocrity. 1/5

REVIEW
As expected, I did not enjoy this and will not willingly
put this on again. Maybe I need more time to get into it,
but there's no excuses for Wayne sounding like Drake 90% of the time.
Seriously what happened? I'm just glad the real Cash Money
is not part of this anymore, Mannie, B.G., Juve, Turk...
real recognize real and thankfully these dudes did with Wayne.
Dismiss. Wayne died for me after TC3.
Lil Wayne is the Tiger Woods of Rap period. Nuff said.
Overall Score: 4/10
