DAZ & WC - WESTCOAST GANGSTA SHIT

DAZ & WC
WESTCOAST GANGSTA SHIT
2013

Daz & WC together? Man, you know that's gonna be
a straight up west coast classic! And after a few spins,
it's not far from it i must say. Front to back it's
exactly what you'd expect and maybe more.
Tracks like Late Nite & Blam Blam are already some
of my favourites of the year. I'm lovin this shit!

1. West Coast Gangsta Shit
Fantastic way to kick things off! Daz
is rippin it when it he comes in. 5/5
2. Stay Out The Way ft. Snoop Dogg
Ah hell yeah! This is some classic shit!
And we got some good 'ol Snoop Doggy
Dogg in the house! 5/5
3. Don't Call It A Comeback
Awesome track! Cot'damn! Lovin the vibe
and drums combined with the hardcore
verses and dope ass hook! 5/5
4. When The Shit Goes Down
Yo, this is getting better and better!
Production is really top notch and one
of my favourites. Fuckin rich! And Daz
is just murdering this and i'm glad he's
doing what he does best. Straight up
west coast and no cookie cutter south
shit (which i don't mind him doing). 5/5
5. Late Nite
Jesus fuckin christ! I'm lovin this shit!
Another standout track that hits all the marks.
At this point i'm already a goner! 5/5
6. Blam Blam
So reminds me of the good ol DPG days
hittin donutz in the streets! Crack! 5/5
7. Don't Get Wet
Getting a lil more funky with this but boy
does it deliver! Smooth as hell on top!
Gangsta funk to the fullest! 5/5
8. Roll & Smoke
Man, if you wanna chill the fuck out and
get your high on, this be the cut for it.
Another grade A beat with perfect verse
and hook with Daz just slaying it! 5/5
9. What Cha Gone Do
Interesting way to sample 'I Got 5 On It' and
pretty bold. That song is untouchable but
nonetheless this is one hell of a track! 5/5
10. Time Will Prevail
Laidback and uptempo. These cuts are always
a great addition to classic west coast albs.
No difference here. Tight! 4.5/5
11. Dubs in The Air
If this doesn't make you bump yo head,
nothing will. With that said it's my 2nd least
favourite track of the alb, but look at the
rest of the alb...c'mon son. 4.5/5
12. Alcohol & Drugs
My least fav track but for some reason it
does pull you in. Not sure this'll have lasting
appeal though. Still a dope cut. 4/5
13. Moves I Make ft. Butch Cassidy
I love Butch Cassidy. But this one doesn't
quite do it for me. The piano is too much and
the beat would've been way better without.
Still a cool track, but i wished for more. 4/5
14. Outro - Gangsta Talk

After 9 straight up classic tracks i was hoping
it would be like it all the way to the end and
i could have given this a 10/10. I so wanted to.
A release like this in 2013 with all this faggot bullshit
rap going on (except anything Bay Area) is like
finding a golden needle in a haystack (i'm being too grimm,
there's still a LOT of awesome rap coming out, but you know
what i mean...you know what i mean). But the last couple
of tracks, while still great, but a damper on it.
Still. This is a fantastic release and any fan of the good ol
Dogg Pound and Westside Connection days will get their
fix, and then some! Go cop this! I got mines!
Overall Score: 9.7/10

Final note: so stoked they made a video for Late Nite!
Enjoy this muthafucka and get widit!

MITCHY SLICK - WON'T STOP

MITCHY SLICK
WON'T STOP
2013

Wasn't blown away with his previous
collabo with the freshest dj, but this album,
Mitchy comes correct with that straight up
west coast music! The production is tight
as hell and is a perfect fit for Mitchy's style
who still sounds so fuckin gritty. There's a few
spots on the alb that might seem like filler (due to
lesser production that's now west coast enough) but in
the bigger scheme of things, bumping this front
to back with Mitchy dominating like he does,
it's just a must cop! Give it it's due spins too,
because initially things might throw you off
when the alb starts off with some interesting
samples. The techno-sampled 'off with heads'
(which was also used on a track for Shady Nate
on his last album "Mobb Marley II) and the heavy
but so awesome "soowooper friends" where
Mitchy's flow is so damn awesome.
Overall you're in a for one hell of a treat if
straight up west coast music is your thing.
(minus the couple of more southern type beats)
But if you don't even know Mitchy is...uhm...
just get to know him yo!

1. Off Wit Heads 4.5/5
2. Soowooper Friends 4.5/5
3. Won't Stop Bein a Blood 5/5
4. U In 3.5/5
5. Young n Dumb 4/5
6. Bangin & Ballin 3.5/5
7. Crack In A Jar 3/5
8. Out Of Bounds 4.5/5
9. Run 5/5
10. Gangland 5/5
11. They'd Call U a G 5/5
12. Dip Dwella 4/5
13. American Gangsta 3/5
14. Breakin 3/5
15. Bastards Of The Party 5/5
16. All I ever Wanted 5/5
Overall Score: 8.8/10

BROTHA LYNCH HUNG - MANNIBALECTOR

BROTHA LYNCH HUNG
MANNIBALECTOR
2013
The trilogy comes to end. After "Dinner & A Movie"
and "The Coathanga Strangla", Brotha Lynch
finally drops 'Mannibalector" and though i have to
bump a few more times, this is without a doubt
the best of the three and will be a serious contender
for album of the year. It is brilliant in every single way
(just like his move to Strange Music).
Creative juices flowing like crazy and the perfect
production team behind him. Simply amazing.

1. News Flash (Intro)
2. Krocadil
And off he goes. Mr. Mann is ripping it straight
of the bat. Fuckin insanely brilliant! Crazy beat
that you might need to get used to but upon truly
listening to Lynch's wordplay and content it
all makes sense and it's all just beautiful.
And props to the sound effects intertwining
with the beat towards the end (that goes for the
whole album really). Great and truthful hook aswel. 5/5
3. Bacon N Eggs (skit)
4. MDK
Great lyrics and delivery over a crazy beat that makes
you listen to Lynch to the fullest, but falls a little
flat in the end. Could've been more. 3/5
5. Disappeared
Awesome backdrop sounds here. Love Lynch's flow
and little grunts during that first verse. 5/5
6. Fucked Up (skit)
7. Eating You (ft. Bernz & Wreckonize)
Takes some time to come together but
what awesome lyrics and story.
Not too much a fan of the change-up, but it
surely is creative and adds to the brilliance. 4/5
8. Tha Package (ft. Yelawolf)
Sick sick sick. Great production with a hyper
lynch and nice little feature from Yela. Tech N9ne
should've been on this one aswell no? 5/5
9. Something About Susan (feat. COS, Irv Da Phenom)
Superb! I love this one. You wouldn't expect an RnB hook
on here at all, but for this one it works so well and
Lynch's style on a beat like this is golden. 5/5
10. The River (skit)
11. Can I Have a Napkin
An early favourite and still one of the best tracks
thanks to...pretty much everything! 5/5
12. Mask and Knife (ft. G Macc & Bleezo)
Going all out with that hook, but what a great blend
with the verses. All come correct and deliver a thrill ride
front to end. Crazy dope! 5/5
13. Meat Clever
First single and what a truly dope song this is (including the
amazing video). Perfect delivery, production, lyrics...
everything is simply mouth watering! 5/5
14. I Give Up (ft. COS)
Another great production from the underrated Justin 'Axis' Patton
(who also did "Meat' and several others for Lynch)
making for a great track from both Lynch and COS. 5/5
15. Instruments (skit)
16. Stabbed (ft. Tech N9ne & Hopsin)
Mesmerizing! Listen to this with your eyes closed
and get lost in the mood and greatness of Lynch,
Tech & Hopsin who go all out. 5/5
17. Body On The Floor
Bloody fantastic this is! I mean, c'mon, the hook alone.
And then that crazy insane beat, holy crap! 5/5
18. Have You Checked The Children (skit)
19. Sweeny Todd
Man i love this beat, it's out of this world and perfect
for Lynch. It can't get any better. 5/5
20. Dead Bitch
I stand corrected, this is the penultimate craziness
perfect backdrop. Couldn't have finished the album,
nay, the trilogy, better than with this gutwrenching
track. I need not say no more other than...
fucking brilliant! 5/5

You know you're in for a treat with Brotha Lynch Hung
ever since Season Of Da Siccness dropped 18 years ago!
This trilogy was damn amazing, all three albums, but i think
Mannibalector was his finest. I can't wait for what's
in store next (hard to imagine how to top this trilogy though).
Here's the video for Meat Clever to keep things lingering...

XZIBIT - NAPALM

XZIBIT
NAPALM
2012

Mr. X To Tha Z keeps rap's legacy intact here
and makes us forget skinny jeans and pussy hip-pop
never came about! From the cover to the whole vibe
that's surrounding the album, X keeps it X.
And it's pretty hardcore as soon as the first track
bumps through your speakers. There are no filler tracks
(except maybe " forever a g"). What's great is it has a nice variety
to keep you cruising all the way to the awesome ending
with tracks like "movies", "i came to kill" & "killers remorse".
And the title track is bananas. Once you get past the initial
wtf-is-this-shit, the track gets to you and hooks you in.
Other great tracks are the awesome collabo with Prodigy
on "something more", "everything", "1985", "stand tall",
the fantastic "the meaning of life", "Louis XIII" and
strangely "enjoy the night" with David Banner and Wiz Khalifa.
Overall this disc is damn dope and it's great rap like this is
still being released. If only more rappers stayed through to
their roots, we'd have so much more to enjoy.
Overall Score: 9.1/10

C-BO - ORCA

C-BO
ORCA
2012

C-BO back like he never left! This album is fucking great!
From the opening title track you know you're in
for a treat and they keep coming throughout the album!

1. Orca
Like i said, a treat. C-Bo goes off over a truly
exhilarating beat and this marks everything. 5/5
2. 187 ft. WC
Great little intro and then the west comes-a-knockin!
Dope ass Dre-like beat with C and Dub perfect on it! 5/5
3. I Hustle
Unusual production following 187, but this is infectious
like a mutha! Dope hook. 5/5
4. Bullets ft. Slim The Mobster & King T
Awesome features over a beat that falls a little
behind Tony Yayo's 'Bullet's Whistle'. Still tight. 4/5
5. For Nothing ft. Dubb 20
Took some time but this one is a silent killer! 4.5/5
6. Lyfe Is A Gamble ft. Yukmouth & The Realest
Sick track and so glad it features Yukmouth.
The Realest is always on point. 5/5
7. Addictive ft Slick Pulla, Brotha Lynch Hung
Another fly joint with smooth production.
Lovin Brotha Lynch, always. 4.5/5
8. Bitch Im Ballin ft. Paul Wall
Just like 'I Hustle', you just can't knock it!
The hook is retarded of course but who cares here! 5/5
9. Murder One ft. Mc Eiht & B.G. Knocc Out
Man, the features on this album are SICK!
Now Mc Eiht comes correct  on this really dope track.
(which reminds me of Deuces Wild from Killer Mike) 5/5
10. Getting To The Money ft. B-Legit
Seriously, i'm lovin all the guests. B-Legit on a truly
fitting track right up his alley. Dope! 5/5
11. Waiting On Me
A little generic maybe but C-Bo can sell ice to an eskimo.
And he slays this type of beat. 4.5/5
12. New Beginning ft. Rydah J. Klyde, T-Nutty & Marvaless
Pretty fly track with a nice build-up. Could've done without
Marvaless perhaps, but it's all good. 4/5
13. Killas Like Me ft. Kokane Killa Tay & Lil Cyco
Classic West Coastin down the B L V D. Kokane is
such a dope addition to anything! 5/5
14. No Warning ft. Young Buck
Not sure how Young Buck made the album, but this
track is really cool and Buck is allright. 4/5
15. Can't Grind Forever
Lovin the blaxploitation sample. Great track. 5/5
16. Fuckin Wit It ft. E-40
Yes! E Feezy in the house, finally! But the beat unfortunately
kills my excitement. They could've done so much better.
You'd think, until 40 rips his verse! He's god, for real. 4/5

The killer whale of the hood has done it again. C-bo dropped
a truly great fuckin West Coast album that can measure up
to pretty much anything of the last 10 years, on any coast!

GLASSES MALONE - BEACH CRUISER

GLASSES MALONE
BEACH CRUISER
2011

                                                               01 G Bo (Intro)
02 Kickstand
Wes' wes' to the fullest. Real rap. Malone does his thing. 4.5/5
03 Eastsidin f. Snoop Dogg & Nipsey Hu$$le
Typical club banga, but man it hooks you in. Sick beat.
Malone goes hard, Snoop is snoop o the hook and Nipsey
steals the show. This dude is underrated. 4.5/5
04 Certified f. Akon
Took me some to get used to Akon being on this track
but it's really a nice track and G Malone makes it
his own. This dude is raw and i knew it first time
i heard him spit years ago. 4.5/5
05 Dope
Crazy beat, not really a hit but it grows on ya. 4/5
06 Off Safety f. Latoya Williams & Mack 10
Female type of track, but nothing watered down.
Nice lil song. Great to see Mack 10 making the alb. 4.5/5
07 Hold On (Rare Breed) f. T. Lopez
This is on some ol' skool funk type shit. Lil outta place
but i can dig it. 3.5/5
08 I Get Doe f. The Cataracs
Commercial track right here, but Glasses makes
it work with his verses. Likin the hook too 4/5
09 Rich N Thuggin f. Ya Boy
Not bad, but with Ya boy featuring i'd expect some more.
Love Malone's verses though. 4/5
10 Car Wash
Sick beat, that's what i'm talkin bout. Classic. 5/5
11 Call Me T.I.
Not sure about this one. Not at all west coast fo real.
More like a Rick Ross song. Still allright though. 3.5/5
12 Til Da Sun Come Up f. T-Pain, Rick Ross & Birdman
Radio material, but it's a tight joint with Ricky starting
off strong. Since Malone is signed to Cash Money
it had to have Birdman on a track at least. Typical. 3.5/5
13 No Sympathy f. Jay Rock
Not a fan of Jay Rock and he takes down the whole track.
Shit hook but Malone is still awesome though 3/5
14 Club Heaven
My favourite joint. Like the title, it's heaven. 5/5
15 Feel Good Muzik f. Latoya Williams
Another favourite. Love the breakdown at the end. 5/5
16 Just Waitin (Bonus Track)
Why would this NOT be on the album??
Awesome throwback joint. Sweet as saccharine 5/5
17 Stronger (Bonus Track)
This one could've been left out maybe, but it's
not a bad track per se. Grows on ya! 4/5

BONUS CD
01.My Turn (feat. Kam, Latoiya Williams, Lupe Fiasco, & Wyclef Jean)
02.I'mma Pray (feat. Tyrese)
03.Go Big
04.Fuck With Me (feat. Manny Fresh)
05.Haterz (Feat. Lil Wayne & Birdman)
Still to review this bonus cd!

REVIEW
Glasses Malone's previous collaborative alb with Mack 10,
Money Music, was one of the best albs of 2011. I'd expected
something similar, but it wasn't really like that. But this shows
the talent that Glasses Malone is. He made this album his own.
Rap will never die with cats like this bringing out quality raps.
Overall score: 8.8/10

GAME - THE R.E.D. ALBUM - WEST COAST

GAME
THE R.E.D. ALBUM
2011

1. Dr. Dre (Intro)
2. The City - ft. Kendrick Lamar

This took me a while to get into. Still don't like Kendrick Lamar
but gotta give props where props due, he goes off here.
As far as Game himself goes, he's equally good on the track. 4/5
3. Drug Test - ft. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, & Sly

This is basically a supbar track that had the potential to be
better but unfortunately it wears off quickly. 3/5
4. Martians vs. Goblins - ft. Tyler, the Creator & Lil Wayne
For one who doesn't like Tyler at all and who turned his back
on Wayne post TC3, i do love this track.
Beat is ill and the lyrics is sick as fuck! Game is game. 4.5/5
5. Red Nation - ft. Lil Wayne
Three 6 Mafia used the sample better, but this track is real tight.
Love the production and some solidness all around. 4.5/5
6. Dr. Dre 1 (Interlude)
7. Good Girls Go Bad - ft. Drake

I can't front, i fuckin hate Drake more than Ghostface does,
but this is one of my fav cuts of the alb. The use of the sample
alone makes me forgive drizzy's whack ass presence,
who for once is not that bad...and Game is game. 4.5/5
8. Ricky

This is some clever shit. Whomeva came up with the idea of
this track deserves a mention. Love the whole production.
And Game is awesome on the whole damn thing. 5/5
9. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

I love it, i love it, i love it. Captivating and e'ything. 5/5
10. Heavy Artillery - ft. Rick Ross & Beanie Sigel

Some mo' fly shit with great features from
the boss and the bully. 4.5/5
11. Paramedics - ft. Young Jeezy

It's aaight and all, but feels somewhat outta place here.
Might've been better if Game didn't sound like he literally
sucked Jeezy's ass...i mean c'mon. 3/5
12. Speakers on Blast - ft. E-40 & Big Boi
After a few spins, i actually can stand the hook now.
E-Feezy and Daddy Fat Sacks do more than their thing
and the whole song is growin on me fast. 4/5
13. Hello - ft. Lloyd
Ok, i'm not gone front here either, i fucks wit the lady joints.
And this is no exception. It's soft as hell fo real, but
let's just call this one a guilty pleasure. Who cares. 4/5
14. All the Way Gone - ft. Mario & Wale
More moosh, but, Mario and Wale elevate it for me. Dunno why.
Game is kinda mediocre in compairison. 4/5
15. Pot of Gold - ft. Chris Brown

I'm just gonna pretend i was dropped on the head
in my infant days. This track is dope yo. And i don't usually
do commercial radio boo boo's. Still...4.5/5
16. Dr. Dre 2 (Interlude)
17. All I Know - ft. Luu Breeze

This is the type of track i'd expect really. 0/5 nuff said!
18. Born in the Trap

Talk about doin a 180, 360, 720, whateva, fuck man!
Game at his best, wit a lil help from Preemo. 5/5
19. Mama Knows - ft. Nelly Furtado

I didn't feel this at all at first. Beat wasn't doing it
and Nelly F sounds outta whack. Bitch made hook,
f'n annoying. But Game's verses and flow make you
listen again, and it pays off. Now i approve. 3/5
20. California Dream
Stop procreating is all i gotta say. Beat gets on ya nerves too.
I do like the ending for some reason. 2.5/5
21. Dr. Dre (Outro)

I was never a fan of Game and don't feel the need to
listen to dude. The name droppin doesn't fly with me
and his voice is an acquired taste. However, expecting
nothing at all, this album did surprise me. Definitely his
best effort to date and i can actually breeze through it.
But seriously, Game, Kendrick, Tyler, Wayne AND Drake?
Instant fail in my book, but this just goes to show
one has to have an open mind. And i'm glad i do!
Overall Score: 8.8/10
