GHOSTFACE KILLAH - TWELVE REASONS TO DIE

GHOSTFACE KILLAH
TWELVE REASONS TO DIE
2013
Jesus Fuckin Christ!
It's a wrap y'all! Ghost Deini has done it! The curtains have closed!
What we have right here folks? Hands down the best Rap album of 2013!
There is, and prolly won't be no competition. I am fuckin ecstatic!
I might even be as bold and say this could very well be
one of the best albums of the last 10 years!
I mean, oh my lord! Have mercy!

If you are a Wu fan or a Rap fan in general and not
acknowledge with me right now how truly spectacular this album is,
you can take your Asap's, Tyler's, Wayne's and Future's and jump
off a cliff in front of my eyes so i can marvel at the death
of pussy faggot rap and give it all one last middle finger up! Ha!

No seriously, Adrian Younge and the almighty Ghostface Killah
have created a masterpiece here...in 2013. A masterpiece.
20 years after Enter the Wu.

For me, music to move me, has to have that one thing that
makes it all worth while: melodies...in whatever genre.
With rap, if you add the perfect flow, perfect rhymes & rhytmn,
you've got something that makes this genre one of the best
musical experiences there is. And with this album
Ghostface & Adrian nailed every single aspect.

The production, so very wu, is flat out amazing and
i think even surpasses RZA's in some way.
The choice of instruments, the melodies (!),
the vintage drum patterns and sounds, and even the
choice of opera-like approach to vocal parts.
It's all just so damn exquisite! I love every second of it!

As for Ghost, you know he's been so on point with everything he ever did
and never disappointed, but you know the production is that extra special
if you have Ghost shining like this. He kills every word, every line, and
as such a big fan, it is truly a blessing to hear something so fantastic.
This is up there with his finest work. Time will tell where the alb
stands amongst the rest of his incredible ouvre, but i have a feeling
it will be in his top 3 albums of all. And that's a tough feat!

Add to that, nothing but Clan features (Killa Sin is Wu yo!), and we finally
have the best WU release since the first clan members solo's started to
come out back in the mid 90's. Liquid Swords, Iron Man, Cuban Linx, etc...

This album could've easily been released 20 years ago and would
have blown me and the rap world away just the same
(perhaps for different reasons, but still...)
This is hip-hop at it's finest. Period.
I cannot praise this enough.

This really is a wrap.
Listen, marvel, be amazed and soak it all in.
Praise god,
and his name is Ghostface!

KILLAH PRIEST - THE PSYCHIC WORLD OF WALTER REED

KILLAH PRIEST
THE PSYCHIC WORLD OF WALTER REED
2013

Holy shit! A double album from KP that'll make every
Wu-Tang fan jump for muthafuckin joy!
I have to listen quite a few more times, but there's
so much goodness on here, i have to take it all in
properly and in abundance. The second disc is insane!

RAEKWON - THE TONITE SHOW

RAEKWON
THE TONITE SHOW
2013
From the Bay to Staten island, Raekwon hooks up with
DJ Fresh for the dopest collaboration since
David Banner & 9th Wonder. And seriously, Fresh pulled out all
the stops and gave Rae some of his best material.
"Double Dragon" for instance is so damn fine and has
WU written all over it, it's fuckin fantastic!
A lot more dopeness, but do have to bump some more.

1. The Tonite Show With Raekwon
2. Culinary School ft. Mean Doe Green
After a nice lil intro, the album drops that heat
out the bat with this dope cut reminiscent of the
good old Rae days. Mean Doe has a tight verse aswell
but really another Wu feature would make this even
better (goes for the rest of the alb too, but i'm not
complaining cuz Mean Doe is fly). 5/5
3. Mic Flips
Dj Premier couldn't have done it better. What a truly
masterful sampled beat! Fresh is on fire here and
Rae just puts the cherry on top! 5/5
4. Rae Words Interlude
5. Yin And Yang
Perhaps the lesser cut of the album but still
a great listen thanks to Rae and a really surprising
but perfect switch-up in beat. 4/5
6. So Much On Your Body
I would not have expected an RnB type joint on here
but man is this track something great!
Sunny Valentine totally kills it with his vocals and
melodies. Rae coming in after 2 minutes seems odd, but
it's perfect really. Now this is vintage shit! Reminds me
of the Trackmaster Rap/RnB collabos from way back.
Anybody remember Changing Faces & Jay-Z? 5/5
7. Skit
8. Double Dragon ft. Mean Doe Green
Wu Syndicate goosebumps all over! This could've easily
been on that album and is my favourite type of Wu joint.
Hands down best track of the alb, and will most likely be
in my top 3 tracks of 2013. So damn good! 5/5
9. Bigger Gun ft. Mean Doe Green
Despite the slow tempo of this track, it's ridiculously fly!
Lovin the hook and Rae up-tempo flow. Tight! 5/5
10. Real Niggaz ft. Fashawn
Another great Wu-ish vibe type joint with a nice feature
from Fashwan (nice to see him on here). It could
have had 2 more verses though (another Rae and Ghost
verse would've been perfect, no?). Little short. 4.5/5
11. Holes Of Hell
A little bit repetitive perhaps but still solid. Rae killed
it as usual but wish this had a wu feature. 4/5
12. Outro

As great as this little joint venture is, it's only downfall
is its length,  i mean, c'mon son! Only 8 full tracks yo!
Double that with more of the same and this would
have undeniably been the one to beat this year.
Still, i bought my copy and however short it is,
it is such a great listen and on repeat non-stop!
Overall Score: 9.4/10

RAEKWON - UNEXPECTED VICTORY

RAEKWON
UNEXPECTED VICTORY
2012

Too bad it's a mixtape because i would have loved
to have this one as the follow-up to last year's
awesome Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang.

After a few more listens though, i just hope some of
these tracks really will make it to a retail alb.
I take back my initial statement because really
there are too many features by Rae's artists.
Mobb Deep, CNN, LEP Bogus Boys, Styles P,
Busta Rhymes & Fred Da Godson not included.
All those tracks are pretty sick.
Overall the album's quality is lacking a little but
that doesn't mean it has some really dope songs.
Here are my favourites which are all 4.5 & 5/5:

Pinebox Story, Silk, Luxury Rap, Chinese Marines,
This Shit Hard, Soldier Story, A Few Good Men, Chupa Cabra,
Facetime (i know it's not a Rae track, but this reminds
me of the good ol RnB days) and Gangsta Cazals.
That makes 10 tracks i truly love/likes.
There aren't really any bad tracks here, except maybe
The Brewery which sounds bland as.
Also, that intro instrumental is amazing, that should've
been a whole track with just Rae on it.
Seriously can't wait for Rae'a next official drop, this is
heading in the right direction.
Overall Score: 8.5/10

CAPPADONNA - THE PILGRIMAGE

CAPPADONNA
THE PILGRIMAGE
2011

1. A-Alike B-Alike C-Alike
Great opening track with an ill beat
and Cappa is back y'all! 5/5
2. Darts Imports
A raw and gritty Cappa over a nice lil beat. 4/5
3. Energy Guard
Love me some wu kung fu samples.
Keeping it all wu here. Repetitive beat
maybe but it's all good. 4/5
4. Hoody Hoodpecker ft. Matlock & Killa Black
Man, this is that shit fo real. It's like a
GZA intro followed by an insanely dope beat
with Matlock making it sound like a Killarmy track.
Cappa is awesome and KB is cool. 5/5
5. Good Wine ft. Chedda Bang
This sample is the best and greatly used, sick beat.
Fucking hell this is nice! Chedda aswell. 5/5
6. Put God First ft. Solomon Childs & Inspectah Deck
Familiar beat but still sweet as and Rebel INS?
Nuff said. Plus Cappa tops it off. 5/5
7. Hold On
Radio Friendly single like the good ol Ghost tracks.
Very nice and some nice lyrics. 5/5
8. Honey Look Good ft. Inspectah Deck
Starts off pretty fly but then it just switches gear
and i'm like.... Too commercial soundin
to be on this album. But once past this... 4/5
9. For You ft. Killa Black
Ill beat with Cappa making it even better.
Just wish the hook was done by Tekitha.
Would've been the cherry on top. 5/5
10. Friendemies ft. Chedda Bang
Another nice feature from Chedda Bang and
Cappa does his thing towards the end. 4/5
11. Can't Believe It's Him
This is one hell of a dope song. Love the
simplicity of the hook and the beat is just
crazy good and it all just works. It just works. 5/5
12. Cuban Link Kings
Such a shame the beat drops  so late and is so short
cuz this track is bananas! Cappa at his best! 5/5
13. Trial & Tribularions
But then this track?? Fuck this is my favourite cut
off the alb and wish i could rate higher.
And doesn't KB sound like meth? 5/5

Cappadonna has always been one of my favourite
and The Pillage was and is a whole bunch of
awesomness and still remains untopped.
Cappa's previous albs always lacked great
production so most fell somewhat short. Until now.
Hands down one of the best Wu solo albs of the
last decade and pretty damn close to The Pillage.
And best cover of the year? Yup.
Overall Score: 9.8/10

WU-TANG CLAN - LEGENDARY WEAPONS

WU-TANG CLAN
LEGENDARY WEAPONS
2011

1. Start the Show (feat. Raekwon and RZA)
Great opening track, raw beat and Rae and RZA make it
even better...wish there were more members spttin. 4/5
2. Laced Cheeba (feat. Ghostface, Sean Price and Trife Diesel)

This right here is ill! Awesome wu intro and grimey beat.
Ghost delivers like the golden days. Sean Price is aaight, but
this should've been a Masta Killa verse. Price the 36th Chamber?
gtfoh with that shit. Trife is good on the mic, but again, GZA? 4.2/5
3. Diesel Fluid (feat. Method Man, Trife Diesel and Cappadonna)

Gotta love Meth, honestly, sick verse. Trife similar as previous
track, but this one tops it. And Cappa is that shit! 4.5/5
4.
The Black Diamonds (feat. Ghostface, Roc Marciano and Killa Sin)
2nd fav track fo real. Ghost, the beat change-up, the hook...
It's all top notch...Roc is ok, Sin is great, but if only...5/5
5.
Played By The Game
Shoulda been a beat and the clan going back and forth. Oh well...
6. Legendary Weapons (Ghostface, AZ and M.O.P.)
More ghost greatness, an awesome AZ and then M.O.P. Why?
This definitely shoulda been Rae and U-God instead. 4.5/5
7. Never Feel This Pain (feat. Inspectah Deck, U-God and Tre Williams)

Favourite track of the alb. Finally some golden arms who kills it.
And the Inspectah's verse are so dope. Classic Wu! 5/5
8.
Drunk Tongue (feat. Killa Sin)
Odd choice of track, a Killa Sin solo. Still sweet. 4/5
9. The Business (Interlude) Pointless, talk about filler.
10. 225 Rounds (feat. U-God, Cappadonna, Bronze Nazareth and RZA)

More U-God, fuckin A! And Cappadona takes verse of the alb.
Bronze and RZA are just allright though. 4.5/5
11. Meteor Hammer (feat. Ghostface, Action Bronson and Termanology)

Nice little track. Termanalogy steals it. 4/5
12. Live Through Death (Interlude) Just stupid really...
13. Only the Rugged Survive (feat. RZA)

A RZA solo to end the alb, ok...not bad, but nothing major here. 4/5
14. Outro

I mean, is this a Wu-Tang Clan release? Not really really. If all the features
except for AZ  and Cappa were the other clan members, this would be better...
or maybe not. Then the expectations might've been higher. In anywayz
where's Masta Killa and GZA?? I can surpass Meth and RZA not being
at a concert, but for an album like this...nah...Pollen, the third Killa Beez
album sounded more WU (M.E.F. anyone?), but still I liked the album a lot.
Overall Score: 9/10
