RICK ROSS - GOD FORGIVES, I DON'T

RICK ROSS
GOD FORGIVES, I DON'T
2012

The first Maybach Music Group collabo alb was sick
and i loved it, despite never being that big a fan of Rick Ross.
After that things went downhill fast for me. Pill left, Wale
didn't deliver with his sophomore alb, and especially the 2nd
MMG album which was the biggest letdown. So i wasn't
particularly looking forward to this one.
But Ricky Rozay knows how to choose production and pick
tracks that would make anyone sound rich.
Still not a fan per se, but this album did surprise me
and has some really tight tracks on it. The opening
tracks 'Pirates' & '3 Kings' are superb, especially the latter
which has Ross coming real tight with his verse alongside
Dr. Dre and Jiggaman. And that beat is incredible!
Things stay steady with solid tracks following one another,
until 'Hold Me Back' & '911' change up the feel of the alb.
Typical MMG-type beats, but they're the ones that made MMG1
so dope, so still no complaining and the alb still flows.
It all turns mellow again with the RnB-type joints.
'Presidential', 'Ice Cold', 'Touch N You', 'Dices Pineapples'
range from ok-ish (Touch N You) to good (Presidential) to great
(Diced Pineapples) to superb (the excellent 'Ice Cold').
And then 'Ten Jesus Pieces' drops. Fuck me runnin! That track is
so sick and one of the year's finest. Awesome joint!
The two bonus tracks from the deluxe version with Nas
and John Legend are pretty fly and finish the alb nicely.
1. Pray For Us
2. Pirates 5/5
3. 3 Kings 5/5
4. Ashamed 3.5/5
5. Maybach Music IV 4/5
6. Sixteen 3.5/5
7. Amsterdam 4/5
8. Hold Me Back 4.5/5
9. 911 4/5
10. So Sophisticated 3.5/5
11. Presidential 4/5
12. Ice Cold 5/5
13. Touch N You 3/5
14. Diced Pineapples 5/5
15. Ten Jesus Pieces 5/5
16. Triple Beam Dreams 5/5
17. Rich Forever 5/5
Overall though, this album is pretty cohesive, feels complete
and just flow through your speakers. If you're a Ross fan, i can
see this being one your favourites this year. It really is
a great album, just depends on what you like here.
For me, i was actually surprised and find myself getting more
hooked to it the more i hear it. Shit's fly basically!

MMG - SELF MADE 2

MAYBACH MUSIC GROUP
SELF MADE 2
2012

Fuck, what a huge disappointment!
With Pill out the picture and adding Stalley & Omarion
instead, things were bound to stink. But I didn't imagine
it to be this bad. On top of that way too much
French Montana for my taste. That dude sucks major ass!
Regardless there are a few bright spots after a few more
attempts to try and sit through the entire album.
The first track "power circle" is a good example.
This one is actually pretty fly which would have
fit nicely on the first one. The piano play is awesome.
But then Kendrick Lamar opens his fuckin trap and
it's downhill from there. "Black Magic" is just too
much and milking the whole style, "This Thing
Of Ours" is too little and too pussy. Omarion
has lost any shred of respect he ever had here.
It just continues from there with ugly beats
that just get buried even more by ugly flows
and raps that kinda piss me off. I just could not
sit through this without cringing.
Nipsey Hussle is another tiny bright spot, but
who cares at this point. Especially being followed
by such a turd of a track like 'I Be Puttin On'.
I mean, this is embarrassing for all cats involved.
This is what's wrong with rap today.
All pussy and pretend-gangster with retard flows
and no musical feeling whatsoever.
Fuck this shit, seriously. One of the year's
worst along with all the other fags, Future,
Wiz Khalifa, Tyler, Schoolboy Q, French Montana,
Asap Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, etc...kill yo' self!

WALE - AMBITION

WALE
AMBITION
2011

1. Don't Hold Your Applause
Very nice opening track to the album.
I love it all, especially the ending and
Wale comes with some real ish. 5/5
2. Double M Genius
As nice as the track is and Wale spits
some nice lyrics, it feels like something
is missing...but then the second verse
brings you back and the track grows.
Solid track in the end. 4/5
3. Miami Nights
Not sure i'm feeling this. Mainly because
of the over-produced beat perhaps?
There were similar and better tracks like
this on his latest  mixtape. 3.5/5
4. Legendary
Comes across boring, the beat just doesn't
pull you in and it kills the track. 2.5/5
5. Lotus Flower Bomb (ft. Miguel)
As to be expected with Miguel on the hook,
but really it's nothing compared to some
of the slow joints of the mixtape.
Could've easily been replaced with something
a lot better. Just not good enough. 2/5
6. Chain Music
At least this made the album. One of the better
tracks from the mixtape and still bumps
the fuck outta yo speakers. 4.5/5
7. Focused (ft. Kid Cudi)
I will prolly never like anything that has this
annoying Cudi vibe all over the track.
Too bad, Wale actually is nice on the verses. 1/5
8. Sabotage (ft. Lloyd)
Another chick type joint with Lloyd. It's not bad
but again on the mixtape there's so much more
and better to offer. 3/5
9. White Linen (ft. ne-Yo)
Hideous beat. Ne-yo is ass on here and overall
it's questionable as to how this made this album
with all the hype beforehand. 2/5
10. Slight Work
Big Sean should've never been signed. What
a disgrace to music and what was Wale thinking?
Stinker of the year. 0/5
11.  Ambition (ft. Meek Mill & Rick Ross)
Only the second track really worthy of making
the album. But following Slight Work it's a bitter
sweet pill...and it wears off a little. 4/5
12. Illest Bitch
Nice joint but nothing more than that. 3.5/5
13. No Days Off
Seriously? Who the fuck made this happen. 0/5
14. DC Or Nothing
It's a damn shame, too little too late once again. 4.5/5
15. That Way
It's getting too much already, 3rd album this is on...

I don't know what happened between the 11.11 Theory
and this piece of nothingness but I'm deeply disappointed.
Only 7 decent tracks and 2 of those are recycled.
And speaking off, how can you not have "Bait" on here??
Doesn't make any sense. And I had such high hopes.

MAYBACH MUSIC GROUP - SELF MADE VOL.1

MAYBACH MUSIC GROUP
SELF MADE VOL.1
2011

1. Selfmade – Wale, Meek Mill, Pill, Rick Ross, & Teedra Moses
First track isn't very promising. Not feeling the beat. It's not
going anywhere really. None of the verses rise above. 3/5
2. Tupac Back – Meek Mill feat. Rick Ross

That's more like it and i'm glad this is the direction the
majority of the alb is going in. Pretty fly. 4/5
3. 600 Benz – Wale feat. Rick Ross & Jadakiss

Very similar to Tupac Back. Nice feature from Jada though. 4/5
4. Pacman – Pill feat. Rick Ross

Awesome fuck-shit-up-n-the-club kinda track. 4.5/5
5. By Any Means – Wale, Meek Mill, Pill, & Rick Ross

Fuck outta here, this is too ill...sick verses and that beat is
just like all the drum and hi-hat rolls...siiiiick Alaikum-Salaam! 5/5
6. Fitted Cap – Wale, Meek Mill, & Rick Ross feat. J. Cole
More of the same swag...Meek Mill is dope man...go nuts wusaa 5/5
7. Rise – Pill, Wale, & Teedra Moses feat. CyHi the Prynce & Curren$y

The alb changes directions with this track, but man how sweet it is.
Very ill track with some dope verses and smooth vibe. 5/5
8. That Way – Wale feat. Jeremih & Rick Ross

The Jeremih stamp all ova this muthafucka, right?
Sick shit and one of my favs of the alb. The beat alone is golden
but then with those verses. Man oh man, Wale & Ricky whasup. 5/5
9. Ima Boss – Meek Mill feat. Rick Ross

After That Way it's feels mediocre, which it prolly is, but once you
get into it and the hi-hat kicks in, it's not that bad. Meek is killa tho 3.5/5
10. Don’t Let Me Go – Pill feat. Gunplay
Feels like a Big K.R.I.T. song. Pretty dope shit right here.
2nd verse is so smooth. Pill kills it. Props due... 5/5
11. Pandemonium – Meek Mill feat. Wale & Rick Ross

Never truly lifts off, but another solid track. Wale & Ricky Rozay
back and forth feels just right you know 4/5
12. Play Your Part – Wale feat. Meek Mill & Rick Ross

Not a bad track at all, Ricky does his thing and towards the middle
the track already grows on ya. Wale is nice man. 4/5
13. Ridin’ On Dat Pole – Pill

Come on, we could all do without this one. Filler joint. 3/5
14. Big Bank – Pill, Meek Mill, Torch, & Rick Ross feat. French Montana

Hells yeah, and we back! Big bank take little bank! No shit! 5/5
15. Running Rebels – Wale feat. Meek Mill & Teedra Moses

Very nice track to end with. Sick beat and Wale and Meek are perfect
on the beat. Teedra does her thing too. 5/5

I did not expect this album to grab my attention like it did.
Between the two vibes the album clearly has, it's just a perfect blend.
Except for the one or two filler tracks this
is def one to put on repeat and just do whatever to it.
All artist came correct and it makes for one nice mixture.
Where's vol. 2 already??
Overall Score: 9.2/10
