First up, again with these shitty ass covers?!
I for one don't judge a book by it's cover but these
retarded ass covers gots to go. I blame Kangay West.
Anyway, Cole's first album was my fav alb of 2011
but with it, it had to grow on me more and more
with each listen and took its time to become my favourite.
It went from just a handful ful of tracks that sprung from
my affection for "Lost Ones" into damn near the whole
album and a heavy rotation for weeks, ney, months!
So this time around the anticipation played a part
and i was quick to dismiss the first single with Miguel.
Still not a big fan of the hook, but seriously, that's
a nice track yo. So again, shit had to grow on me.
So I gave the album it's proper spins and now i'm confident
in my views on it and i must say: Cole delivered 100%
He took Sidelines a step further and didn't give in to
commercialism and it's Cole on top doing what he does best.
And it's still all there, great lyrics, flows and damn
tight production. Only one song i'm not feelin
too much: "Trouble". It's just too damn slow
and a perfect example of what's wrong with
a lot of rap today. But let's not call it that, please.
Please, that's blasphemy!
Overall though, it's such a great sophomore release.
Contender for album of the year? Perhaps...time will tell.
But it's looking good, and seriously, it's a nice album yo!
The smoothness is killer. Especially the second half.
"Let Nas Down", "Born Sinner", superb!
And if you bought the deluxe
version like i did, you know the bonus tracks are
more of the same! Wish they were all on one disc...
God bless, Cole done did it again!
