GUCE as GUCE LEEROY - THE LAST DRAGON

GUCE as GUCE LEEROY
THE LAST DRAGON (I GOT THEM KICKS)
2012

Finally, another release from Guce! Cot'Damn!
Been waiting on this one for quite some time
and the wait was worth the while. This album is straight crack!
Only bumped a few times, but I haven't really heard anything
bad at all. And the production is on point, no filler joints.
So far i'm lovin 'All I Got", that's one dope ass track.
"Turnt Up" & "Wake They Game Up" is hella tight too.
But i gotta bump some more, though I'm pretty set on it so far.

1. Who Am I (Intro)
Great intro and does exactly what it should.
2. Born 2 Win
Gucey Guce Dough Boy hooks you in straight off the bat!
With great production behind him, his verses deliver. 4.5/5
3. I'm Ready (Interlude)
4. Wake They Game Up
What a dope beat and Guce on top make this a golden track
and one of my favourites of the album. 5/5
5. I'll Never Change
I seriously think people underestimate Guce. Just listen to
this joint and pay attention to his flow and delivery. This is
classic material right here. Everything from the hook,
the super production and Guce's verses is just top notch! 5/5
6. I'm Not A Role Model
And it continues. Another perfect track. This one is even
better than the previous one. I love Guce's style on here
and again he's backed by tight production and a perfect
chorus. You gotta love it, you just gotta love it! 5/5
7. Anne Mae
Switching things up with this Anna Mae joint. The beat has
definite southern influences, but as always Guce knocks this
out the park aswell. Sick track. 5/5
8. No Clothes
Gettin stupid still does it for Guce too. I like how this track
keeps things mellow and on the downlow. Pretty fly. 4/5
9. Turnt Up
Man this one is a slumper. For sure this will be a hit in the
club. Great hook and when Guce comes knockin with that
first verse all you want to do it put your thizz face on. Add
E-40 and Beeda Weeda (another cat that's way underrated)
and you you've got some classic bay are slap happenin. 5/5
10. Back To Love
And just like that, things slow down with this mellow joint
featuring one of my favourite crooners, Jaheim. Truly
awesome to see this collabo come together. Dope. 5/5
11. Step Out
Yeeeeeeeah. Guce has one of the dopest signature chants
next to David Banner and Pastor Troy. When he starts a
song with it, you know it's all good. Tight track. 4/5
12. Ice Tea
The hook cracks me up. The beat isn't on par with the rest
but really it's not bad at all. The verses stand out. 4/5
13. Smoking
Great vibe throughout the track. Despite the autotune use in
the hook, it's pretty fly. Nice little track. 4.5/5
14. IZM
Ol skool sound that keeps it interesting but it's one of the
lesser cuts on the alb. Still you would't skip this. 4/5
15. Tonight
Not sure you can tackle an R. Kelly sampled joint and
get away with it, but this one works somehow. Not bad. 4/5
16. I'm Me
Nice track but it wears a little thin compared to the first half
of the album, but overall it's a dope track. 4.5/5
17. All I Got
Sick beat for real. Love the drums. Soulful and engaging.
Guce is perfect on it and the whole track stands out. 5/5
18. Who I am (Outro)
Nice way to end the album.
Here's the official vid for All I Got...

Having the rap game cluttered with idiotic talentless faggots
like Tyler The Creator & Odd Future, Asap Rocky, Schoolboy Q,
Lil B, Drake, Big Sean, etc... it is so refreshing to have dudes
like Guce still release solid albums like this that remind you that
real rap & hip-hop is still very much alive.
Guce always comes correct (except for his mixtape joints,
no excuse for them fake Lil Wayne featured joints)
and this release might just be his best all-round complete project to
date. It's got it all from slow joints to classic spittin joints, to club
tracks that aren't dumbed down. And overall it flows smoothly.
Impressed and pleasantly surprised, not that I didn't expect it
from Gucey Guce a.k.a. Guce Leeroy!
Overall Score: 9.2/10
